Introduction

At Arthroprax, Dr. Olaf Beck has been advancing knee reconstruction techniques since 2018. Through a combination of cartilage regeneration and meniscus implantation alongside adapted post-operative therapy, Dr. Beck has seen promising results in improving knee functionality in patients.

Pre-Operative Preparations

In a particular case, a 54-year-old female patient with a history of internal meniscus rejection and severe cartilage damage was treated. Prior to the surgical intervention, the patient underwent a regimen of focused shock wave therapy administered in four sessions at one-week intervals. An MRI examination revealed sufficient remaining cartilage and meniscus rim, setting a favorable premise for the forthcoming surgical procedure.

Operative Instruments and Implants

Post-Operative Observations

Subsequent to the surgical intervention, a collagen gel was applied to the cartilage defects and between the meniscus bar and the implant to facilitate healing. The coloration change in the gel, transitioning from transparent to milky cloudy, indicated the curing process, painting a hopeful picture for the patient's knee recovery.
