How does cartilage damage occur?
What are the advantages of cartilage induction?
The advantage over previous cartilage regenerative measures is that the original cartilage is created here. With this treatment, you have no foreign material in your body, but 100% of your natural and fully resilient cartilage. With cartilage induction with Chondrofiller, you only need one minimally invasive procedure (arthroscopy). This is sufficient to reach and supply all defects of the cartilage.
Where can the Chondrofiller be used?
Dr Olaf Beck mainly treats knee joints and ankle joints with the Chondrofiller. In combination with a bone filler, bone cysts can also be filled and sealed with the Chondrofiller.
What is Chondrofiller?
Chondrofiller is a highly pure biological collagen implant that is ideally suited for the therapy of cartilage damage. It consists of collagen type 1 and contains no cells. Collagen is found in all structures of the human body. It is the main component of skin, tendons and cartilage.
How does cartilage induction work?
In a joint endoscopy (arthroscopy), the cartilage is cleaned and then a 2-component gel is applied. The advantage of the chondrofiller is that the implant does not have to be cut to size, but adapts completely to the defect. After the operation, the joint must be rested for 2 weeks. During the healing process, cartilage cells grow in (cartilage induction). Complete regeneration of the cartilage can be seen as early as 6 to 8 months after the operation. Another advantage of the procedure is that cartilage cells do not have to be removed and inserted in a second, time-consuming operation involving opening the joint. It is currently the most gentle procedure for cartilage regeneration.
"Good and friendly practice organisation, exact risk and healing chances consultation with plenty of time for questions, high professionalism on the part of Dr. Beck. My decision to try the treatment with Chondrofiller was right. After three months I am pain-free and walking 'round'. And am therefore really satisfied." - certified Jameda rating
What are the limits of the process?
The limits of the chondrofiller lie in the defect size, which must, however, be determined individually (MRI images). Opposite defects can also be treated, but there are limits here if there are defects in both the inner and outer joint space. For all joints, bone hardening (sclerosis) and bone cysts must not be present.
What does a treatment with Chondrofiller cost?
Reimbursement differs depending on the health insurance company. We recommend obtaining a confirmation from the health insurance company before starting treatment.
11. what is the recovery process?
This question is very individual and cannot be answered in general terms. It depends on the individual case and in particular on the type of surgical intervention. In any case, it will take several weeks before you can walk again without crutches after a knee operation, and it usually takes up to six months, and in some cases even 12 months, before you can put full weight on your knee again.
In the case of a cartilage cell transplant, for example, the knee can usually only be loaded normally again one year after the operation. The recovery process for cruciate ligament tears is also very long; full weight-bearing is not permitted until six months at the earliest. This is more difficult to assess in the case of meniscus surgery. Whatever knee surgery you have, it is very important that physiotherapy begins immediately after the operation and that the recovery process is well supervised by specialists. Therefore, do not miss the follow-up examinations under any circumstances. They help to ensure that the
Whatever knee surgery you get, it is very important that immediately after the operation physiotherapy begins and that the recovery process is professionally well accompanied. Therefore, do not miss the follow-up examinations under any circumstances. They help to ensure that the operation is worthwhile for you and that you can hopefully move (almost) pain-free again.
